Your immune system is your body’s strongest weapon. It is what works tirelessly, day after day, week after week, and month after month quietly in the background, keeping you healthy from viruses, bacteria and germs.
It was my neglected immune system that meant I was getting 3-4 colds a winter, and which ultimately set me on a journey of scientific discovery to understand how this natural wonder works and what we all can do to show it more love.
So, this Valentine's Day, I am excited to announce our first ever Buy One, Give One campaign. This means that every time you choose to look after your immune system by buying a box of Tonic, we will together help spread the immune health love by donating a box of Tonic to those in need.
Why? Well, the pandemic has affected us all and changed lives across the globe. But unfortunately, it hasn’t affected us all equally. Between the 1st of April to the 30th of September 2020, 1.2 million emergency food parcels were given to people in crisis by Trussell Trust food banks in the UK. A frankly shocking number that is up 47% percent on the previous year. The Trussell Trust’s mission is to eradicate the need for food banks, but unfortunately with the current economic situation, they are now more essential than ever.
This is a worrying sign of the pressure we are under as a nation not just economically but also from a fundamental health point of view. An unfortunate reality of food banks is that whilst they are providing lifesaving and essential food, the nutrient density of food is often low due to the majority of donations being dried and tinned goods. In the midst of a pandemic, when immune health is more important than ever, we believe essential vitamins and minerals should be widely available for all to help as many people as possible.
That’s why from this Valentine’s Day, February 14th, right the way through to March 31st we are going to spread the immune health love and donate a box of Tonic for every box of Tonic sold on our website and participating retail stores. With your help, we are aiming to give over 10,000 boxes of Tonic to those who need it most. That has the potential to help over 100,000 immune systems across the country.
