HOW TO BOOST IMMUNE SYSTEM QUICKLY

Are you looking for a quick boost to immune system and be prepared for the winter season? If so, it’s understandable why you might be looking up articles like this one, with the hope of finding a way to boost your immune system quickly.

After all, what normal person doesn’t want to rapidly feel like their normal self again? Or you might simply be gaining in years, and you may be eager to ensure you are doing everything possible to keep supporting your immune system as you age.

And if anything, that’s very much the thing; it is a slight misnomer to talk about how to ‘boost’ immunity, when it’s more a case of supporting your immune system to do the job it already does.

Whether you think of it in terms of ‘boosting’ or ‘supporting’, there is some both good and bad news about the process of trying to improve immunity quickly.

The bad news is that it’s not easy to boost an immune system ‘quickly’; even when the best practices are followed, such as hydrating well and getting ample sleep, little difference is going to be made to your immune response in 24 hours.

The good news, though, is that practices like the above have long been strongly associated with better immune health. So, they are absolutely worth doing, even if it’s true that you need to plan ahead and think more in terms of weeks and months than days, when it comes to trying to improve your immune system ‘quickly’.

What should you not do to attempt to boost your immune system?

One thing we would certainly advise you against doing, is simply rushing to your closest health-food store, grabbing anything and everything you have heard is a “superfood”, and then binging on it back home.

Even in a best-case scenario, this wouldn’t exactly be a very ordered or targeted eating regimen. And in a worse-case scenario, you could be wasting your money – or even posing a risk of harm to your body.

Sure, those much-talked-about “superfoods” – such as mushrooms, ginger, and turmeric – could play a major role in supporting your immune health. But if you were to overdo it on a given vitamin that could otherwise help improve the immune system, your body is likely to try to flush it out to prevent a potentially toxic imbalance.

So, if you aren’t a bit more coordinated with your intake of “immune-boosting” foods, your body might not absorb a lot of the “good stuff” you are attempting to get in there, instead rejecting it. And you might find that your diet is still short in certain important vitamins and nutrients.

Instead, take the more targeted approach

Now, we aren’t saying that you shouldn’t pay close attention to the foods out there that could have a role in supporting your immune health.

Turmeric root, for instance, contains a compound known as curcumin, which has been found to potentially suppress some of the immune changes leading to autoimmune diseases. And there are quite a few types of mushroom that have been linked to enhanced immune health, such as reishi, turkey tail, and lion’s mane. Other dietary options that have been hailed as “superfoods” for the immune system include the likes of coconut oil, spinach, garlic, zinc, and citrus fruits.

And as we touched on above, there are various non-dietary things you can do, whether you are currently feeling unwell or not, to help give your immune system a fighting chance. These encompass the aforementioned sleep and hydration, as well as getting a good level of exercise and minimising your day-to-day stress.

Bear in mind, for example, that elevated stress is believed to depress the immune system and heighten the chances of you falling ill in the first place.

Are the ‘old ways’ the best? It seems so!

So, it turns out that the best ways to improve immunity “quickly” are much the same as the best ways to do so slowly – namely taking care to ensure you have a healthy and balanced diet, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and keeping your stress levels low.
